This is a Y cable with 3 ends of an OBD2 male plug and two OBD2 female connectors.
The OBD2 OBDII female connector is with quality endurable terminals, which are more suitable for a test or diagnostic environment where the devices (connected to the OBD2 female connector) are plugged and unplugged frequently.
The overmolded plastic injection part at the ends of 16-Pin OBD2 OBDII female connectors makes the cable come out straight.
Pin assignment or pin out
The pin assignment or pin out can be like this:
OBD2 male plug | OBD2 female connector 1 | OBD2 female connector 2 |
2 | 2 | 2 |
5 | 5 | 5 |
6 | 6 | 6 |
7 | 7 | 7 |
10 | 10 | 10 |
14 | 14 | 14 |
15 | 15 | 15 |
16 | 16 | 16 |
As to this pin out, the black wires in both round cables are connected to Pin 5. There are 8 pins wired, so there are 8 wires of 26AWG in both round cables.
The pin assignment or pin out can also be like this:
OBD2 male plug | OBD2 female connector 1 | OBD2 female connector 2 |
1 | 1 | 1 |
2 | 2 | 2 |
3 | 3 | 3 |
4 | 4 | 4 |
5 | 5 | 5 |
6 | 6 | 6 |
7 | 7 | 7 |
8 | 8 | 8 |
9 | 9 | 9 |
10 | 10 | 10 |
11 | 11 | 11 |
12 | 12 | 12 |
13 | 13 | 13 |
14 | 14 | 14 |
15 | 15 | 15 |
16 | 16 | 16 |
As to this pin out, all 16 pins of the OBD2 OBD male and female connectors are wired, so there are 16 wires of 26AWG in both round cables.
Application
This Y cable is used to connect telematics, M2M devices, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) devices, fleet management devices, OBD2 GPS trackers or car performance tuning tools to vehicles' OBD2 female diagnostic ports.
There is only one OBD2 female diagnostic port in each vehicle. If you would like to connect two telematics or IoV devices with OBD2 male ports in a vehicle, this OBD2 OBDII male to dual female splitter Y cable can help do this. This Y cable splits the original OBD2 female diagnostic port. Insert the OBD2 male plug of this splitter Y cable into the OBD2 female diagnostic port in the vehicle. Check whether the telematics or IoV devices can be compatible with the vehicle’s voltage (12V or 24V). It is important! Turn off the engine and then connect these two telematics or IoV devices to the two OBD2 female connectors respectively.
This cable can also be used to connect OBD2 diagnostic devices or scanners or fault code readers.
